On Monday night, groups of students blocked the entrances to the Radio and Television building of Serbia in Belgrade, announcing that the takeover would last 22 hours, supporting a national anti-corruption movement that emerged after a tragic accident at a train station that claimed 15 lives last November.
Amid these demonstrations, Belgrade was the scene on Saturday of a massive protest against the government, peaking near the Parliament building. Earlier in the week, President Aleksandar Vucic warned of possible attempts to seize state structures to force the acceptance of a transitional government.
During the protests, a man was detained after claiming to have two bombs to blow up the presidential building. Authorities confirmed that no explosive devices were found, but the investigation into this incident continues.
In a speech to the protesters, Vucic mentioned: “People dream of many things. I dream of a Serbia that is built, a Serbia that progresses, and a Serbia that wins.” The political crisis in Serbia has led to tensions and protests, marked by public discontent and demands for change.
