Novak Djokovic will not play at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, held on clay from April 5 to 12, as the tournament announced on social media this Friday.
«Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the tournament. We wish him all the best and hope to see him back on court very soon,» states the first clay-court Masters 1000 of the season.
The 38-year-old Serbian, a two-time winner in Monte Carlo, had already pulled out of the Miami Masters 1000 due to a right shoulder injury.
The winner of 24 Grand Slam titles is scheduled to return to competition at the Madrid Masters 1000, to be held at the Caja Mágica from April 22 to May 3.
Djokovic, who was the runner-up at the Australian Open in January, beaten by Spanish world number 3 Carlos Alcaraz, has not played since he lost to British player Jack Draper in the Indian Wells round of 16 on March 11.
If the Belgrade player, who has seven wins and two losses so far in 2026, does not return to the courts until the Mutua Madrid Open, he will be away from the tour for almost seven weeks.
