Ассоциация профессиональных теннисистов (PTPA), основанная Новаком Джоковичем, обвинила ATP, WTA, ITF и ITIA в введенииAntitrust restrictions that directly impact players and endanger their well-being. According to the PTPA statement, these allegations seek to expose "decades of abuse and a model that prioritizes commercial interests over the health and quality of life of athletes."
The president of the union, Ahmad Nassar, has denounced that the current system exploits players' talent, restricts their income, and increases the risk of injuries due to playing conditions. One of the main complaints is the low percentage of income received by tennis players, estimated at only 17% of the money generated by tournaments, a figure significantly lower compared to other professional sports.
Additionally, the PTPA criticizes the competition schedule that forces players to compete in tournaments almost all year round without sufficient margin for rest and recovery. Another point of conflict is the lack of regulations on climatic conditions and the use of inconsistent quality balls, which increases the risk of injuries.
Vasek Pospisil and Sorana Cirstea, active members of the PTPA, have emphasized that the fight is not only for better economic compensation, but also for fairer and more dignified working conditions for all players.
With the support of over 250 tennis players, the Association of Professional Tennis Players has made it clear that it will continue its claim until it achieves structural reform in professional tennis.
